Looking for my Sensitivity Reader Rates?

If you need a sensitivity reader for anything lgbtq+, I'm your person.  If you have a main character that is a queer male (gay, bi/pan, non-binary), then I have lived experience that can help you. If you have several lgbtq+ characters that flesh out your story, then I can read for that too.

If you have a character that is more specific, such as a queer woman, or a trans character, then you might be better finding a sensitivity reader who has that lived experience.

But certainly, if you have a cast of queer characters who flesh out the story as secondary or minor characters, then my extensive knowledge of most things lgbtq+ will help you, if you'd rather not look for multiple readers for each flavour of queer.

My sensitivity reader rates are £0.005 per word (or equivalent in your currency). Or £1.50/page for screenplays.

I know that might look like a lot, but you can absolutely be assured that you will get your money's worth with me. I also offer a mini-read for £50.

Indeed, you can find people offering much cheaper, but with them you just get basic feedback about what is right/wrong with your queer characters.

You will indeed find people asking for much more than me. Some readers I've seen cost more than double what I charge, at $0.01 per word.

Not only will you get notes throughout your manuscript about what I think is working very well, what needs attention, and what isn't authentic, but my on-page notes will also highlight places you can add more texture and nuance based on my lived experience, and vast lgbtq+ knowledge.

You will also get a seperate document with global feedback about all the queer characters, and their part in the plot. Plus, as a writer myself, my sensitivity reading does have some crossover with beta reading and critiqueing too. I fully understand that sometimes, because of the type of story or plot, that certain tropes/cliches/stereotypes happen.

My reads usually take around 2 weeks. I will read your manuscript and make notes as I read, plus it takes time to consider my more global notes, after I've finished the full story. I read about 250 words/minute which is about 15k words an hour. That is JUST to read the story. My time that you pay for also includes me stopping to consider every queer aspect, and give you my notes on it.
